She obtained her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and then went on to earn her law degree from Stetson University College of Law. During her time at Stetson, Ms. Kyser served on the Law Review staff. After completing law school, Ms. Kyser commenced her career at the Office of the Public Defender in Jacksonville, Florida. She worked in the Jacksonville office as an Assistant Public Defender for over 21 years and served as a Division Chief in felony court for 19 of those years. Ms. Kyser is a member of the Clay County Bar Association, the Jacksonville Bar Association and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Ann E. Finnell is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She has been a trial lawyer for over 35 years. She has handled homicide and death penalty cases and is qualified to be court appointed on death penalty cases as first chair counsel.
